I don’t think nowadays is a word used very often. “I live in this city now.” would be more common.
I agree. "Nowadays" is something one might hear in an old Western movie, or possibly in rural parts of the south and west. I've never heard it in the midwest, north or northeast. We would say "I live in this country now."
