That would be written with a capital letter: Minun kotimaani on Saksa, olen siis saksalainen.

(If you read for example Finnish discussion forums, people make sooo many mistakes with these nowadays, probably because they are influenced by English (and then maybe try to correct by writing the name of the country in lower case -- I don't actually really get that). But you can do better than a lot of native speakers ;-)

Fun Finnish fact: When speaking in a more relaxed way, saying something "ei ole mistään kotoisin" (is not from anywhere, has no place of origin) means that it's hopelessly bad.

You would never use this about a person, but it could be for example an idea, an attempt to do something, or something else somewhat abstract.
