you cannot help but wonder ... if someone does have her/his stepfather and father-in-law at the same room ... how to address/differentiate them?

Why not "for me"? Either "for" or "to" sounds normal to me as a native English speaker.

Is that in the US? Because in the UK, it would always be "to", since it's talking about a relationship.
