Vamos assistir a novelas!

I think watching TV series is an excellent way to exercise your listening comprehension. Why? Because everything is repetitive, the persons, the topics, so even if you didn't get a word or phrase the first time, there will be many more opportunities. You can get accustomed to the persons and the way they speak. The language is colloquial (at least partly). And through the sheer amount of episodes you'll get a lot of exposure to the language, which isn't possible watching only movies.

So here's a site with a lot of links to telenovelas which you can all watch online:

Edit: Sorry, guys, apparently not all of those links work, you will have to check out which ones work and which don't. Anyway, I still think this site is agood starting point.

I can particularly recommend the telenovela called "Rebelde (Brazil)", I've been watching this for a while and I'm totally hooked. It's about a group of friends who live through ups and downs in an elite college and are eventually going to form a band. Likable, good looking actors, lot's of paixão and amor (hey, it's a brazilian telenovela ;), intrigue, and lots of great music to discover as well! It's also quite funny, and really entertaining! On the site above you'll find the original mexican version with dubs, but on youtube you'll easily find the brazilian version, which is the better one, in my opinion. More info:

If you have any information about other telenovelas (e.g. where to watch it, a synopsis of the content, whether you can recommend it, etc.), please share it here!

Brazilian Rebeldes was a retake of the Spanish (language) version. That is a good teenager soap opera. I have watched Rebeldes. Currently I prefer something more policial, as A Favorita, that is my favorite one. Thank you for share this website.

Guys, try these. (Btw, I totally agree with Luiz - ''A Favorita'' was the best one!)

One daughter two possible mothers, every chapter they make you assume everything (even who is the daughter's true mother) in a different point of view. There are comedy, mistery, terror (yeah I loved some sceens), love and other super interesting things.

I would love to watch a good brazilian serie/brazilian movies WITH portuguese subtitles. I believe this is the fastest way to learn a language. Unfortunately it's quite difficult to find this combination. Does anyone have a good suggestion? Thanks in advance

You may like to see musics with Portuguese lyric, if so look up "música com letra" on YouTube.

http://www.wwitv.com lets you select your country and then shows you what's available to view. Some of the stations even have "closed captioning", so you can listen and read.
