Hm, I've tried "We have ballet as a hobby" as I remember it harrastaa was translated like that in previous exercises but maybe I misunderstood something

'The' is unnecessary and would rarely be used
Maybe it's meant as in being a spectator? You would certainly refer to it as "the ballet" if you were an aficionado of watching it. But, then, is that what Duo is trying to convey? Watching as well as participating counts as a hobby, anyway.
