Okay, so why don't i need "te" here, after having needed it until now?

Because haluta = want and "te" is kinda added into it already as haluaTTEko. "Haluatte" Without the "ko" (Ko Making it kind of a question) could for example be used in "you want something" --> "haluatte jotain"
