Yet another English word learnt through Finnish :)

The English word comes from Hindi. The Hindi word comes from Portugese. Possibly from the Latin for bar!

Wow good to know!

It's a ground floor balcony, which typically has some glasses and roof protecting from rain.

Like a room with big windows to 2 - 3 directions, and it usually doesn't have heating.

I like the description "ground floor balcony" but I wouldn't expect a veranda to be glazed.

'Verandah' is also a valid spelling, at least in Australia ;)

Yeah, I'm getting tired of duolingo saying that's a typo
