    That's what I thought as well, though in English the meanings are ... well different. I would have translated "another" by "toinen" personally

    'Another' comes from 'an' 'other'. Since the 'an' is already there, we don't use a second one.

    And to get into linguistic terminology, 'another' is a determiner, like 'some', 'that', and 'any'. Determiners aren't preceded by 'an', which is itself a determiner.
