Is the ylös necessary here?

In English, we commonly say 'rise up' which is redundant. Rise should also work without the directional addition.

Is it the same here, where nousta could work alone, but colloquially everyone adds the redundant ylös? Or is it necessary.

It is not necessary, it is just used a lot

Does 'stand up' also work instead of 'get up'
