Can "porch" be added as an alternate definition of veranta? "Veranda" isn't used in the northeast US. I had to look it up just to make sure of its meaning.

"porch" is "porstua" in Finnish. There are slightly differenciens in those words, and everybody has their own opinions what is right or wrong.

Isn't "porstua" a lobby? I think porch would be "kuisti".

I never use the word "veranta". It is "kuisti" in Finnish.

Porch could be more accurate translation for kuisti. It maybe depends on the architecture if it's really a veranda or a porch. Anyway, 'veranta' is a valid word but there are likely again some regional/ generational differences in its usage.

Um, a patio is the same thing as a veranda.
