These sentences are nothing without pictures -- so thanks! This stuff looks so good; how is it that the Dutch are not all obese?

Why is the order of the sentence inversed in this case. Wouldn't it be normally men eten poffertjes met een vork?

For emphasis. Like Yoda always said: "Powerful you have become, the dark side I sense in you."

I've thought for years that Yoda was secretly Dutch.

So secretly in fact that he refuses to be tall.

"men eten" is wrong. Use "men eet" instead. "Men eet poffertjes met een vork" is correct

Afrikaans = Poffertjies and English = Fritters.

Poffertjes are definitely not fritters and not deep fried. They are double sided mini pancakes, like puffs which are cooked like English (not American) pancakes. American pancakes are thicker. French crepes are thinner. Poffertjes are also usually served with powdered or icing sugar.

Can't edit on mobile app; but meant to say and delicious :-)

I'd only go as far as saying poffertjes are a type of fritter. They are not a direct translation (and there is no direct translation).

In South Africa they are exactly the same thing, but with food everyone can, and do, differ. No two foods are exactly the same everywhere and all the time, but we tend to simplify and generalise for communication purposes. Food is complicated!
