Kilo kanaa is one kilo of chicken, no need for yksi

question: why is the partitive case being applied here? We seem to be talking about a specific amount of kana here. I thought the partitive case would be used when talking about an uncertain amount.

The partitive is used after units such as kilo. And if you think about it, "chicken" is still an undefined amount of chicken. You just buy one kilo of all the amount of chicken available at the store, for example.

You're buying a countable amount of an uncountable item. One kilo of what, all of the chicken in the store/city/country/world?
