"Càite a bheil thu?"

Why is there such a difference between 'Caite a bheil thu' and 'Co as a tha sibh' - do they mean the same thing? When would I use one question over the other?


Càite a bheil thu? means "where are you?", whereas Cò às a tha sibh means "where are you from?", so they are not interchangeable.
