Stand together as in physically standing or can it also be united for/against something?

More the real life standing than the other thing. The latter does exist, but it sounds a bit "1968 student revolution" or "this sounded cool in another language so I'm going to use it".

You can seistä sanojesi takana, though, stand by (behind) your words. Or seistä jonkun rinnalla, literally stand on someone's chest but rather stand beside them meaning to support them.

Can't we omit he here? Duolingo rejected my answer

Nope, that goes for the first and second person, not for the third.
