The correct term is actually layer cake, not layered. There's even a movie called Layer Cake.

"Layered cake" gets 1,220,000 results on a Google search. While "layer cake" does get about eleven times that amount, there are clearly a great number of people who say "layered cake".

So I think both should be accepted.

Trial by google? As a uk english speaker aged i have never encountered a native speaker saying "layered cake" it's not english in a culinary context.
