I think bun should be accepted also

Buns is synonymous with roll.

When making korvapuusti they are rolled. So roll seems more appropriate. If someone offered you a swiss roll would you call it a bun?

but a roll is a type of bread... and they are not rolled (at least they don't look like they are...)

But a cinnamon roll is a roll and not a bun.

A test: Google "cinnamon bun recipe -rolls" in Google Images. What do you see?

A bun can be in a rolled form ... especially a cinnamon one :)

You win the argument convincingly, Sarah, but I do not believe all that Google says (though quite a bit of it). Why use the same description for (slightly) different things when there are good words to illustrate such differences.!

No. But if they offered me a rolled bun I'd pretty much always call it a bun. See answer to JANBOEVINK.
