"kissa ja kala"

Translation:a cat and a fish

July 14, 2020

And what do we get? A catfish! :P

BUT a catfish in Finnish is monni, whereas our word kissakala (merikissa) in English is actually the Atlantic wolffish (seawolf, which would literally translate to merisusi). Argh... xD

First the dog got hold of the big steak, now the cat has the fish. No point in warming up the grilli today...

Does "kissa" have any relation to Russian "kiska" - "kitten"? Not sure if there is, but just thought it was interesting how sort of similar they are :)

well i know nothing about it but it would make sense seeing the countries are close
