Is it correct to say it like that: "Ei hän puhu ruotsia vaan norjaa"?

    Yes but more unusual.


    Why is it 'vaan' instead of 'mutta'?


    But is normally mutta but the combination "not something but something else" is in Finnish "ei jotain vaan jotain muuta". It's the same kind of pair of words as "both and" which in Finnish is "sekä että" though as you know "että" is not "and". So in these kind of cases a direct translation word by word does not work


    Why is it ruotsia and not ruotsalainen? The same with the Norja
