I knew a little bit about french but now I've been learning with Duolingo for a month and I reached 45 crowns and 234 words and I just finished more than 3 packs of stories. It's lots of fun. I am Egyptian so french is so far from my language but I am really doing well with Duolingo. And sorry for my bad English. :)

You shouldn't write your age here in the forums, since everyone here can read your post and not everyone has the best intentions (you should 'edit' your age out for your own safety).

Also writing personal information (like your age) is against the guidelines and you could risk loosing your account. https://www.duolingo.com/guidelines

thanks, I didn't know that

I am Egyptian so french is so far from my language

Interesting how times have changed. I had an older Egyptian friend (born before the 1952 revolution) and French was her first language. She never learnt Egyptian until she was older. At the time this was pretty normal among her family's circle.

wow, but I am not sure that Egyptians used to speak french as their first language, but some of them can speak and understand french. Your friend may have had foreign (french) parents or even her family was french and she was born in Egypt. I really don't know because she's your friend, not mine. You can also be right, but I never heard that Egyptians spoke french as a first or even a second language. And thank you for sharing this. I will read more about it. :-)

And again: "sorry about my bad English."

It was very common in the upper classes. She learnt her Egyptian from her servant.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/yomna4927

now I started to understand. so she wasn't Egyptian but lived in Egypt.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Judit294350

No - she was Egyptian - of Egyptian parents - and grandparents etc.

oh, my bad.

"It was very common in the upper classes. She learnt her Egyptian from her servant."

that could be possible in 1950

and sorry for my misunderstanding.

BTW this profile picture of you is so cute. :D
