Would it sound clunky to a French ear if one were to say "Max n'était pas du tout poli quand il était petit"?
I agree with that
"Max n'était pas poli du tout quand il était petit" is accepted as well.
I tried 'Max didn't use to be at all polite when he was little' and was told, wrong. Unsure if this is just a variation not in Duo's database or I am actually wrong here. Comments welcome. Thanks.
Why is it ¨du¨ and not ¨de¨? Is pas du tout a set phrase?
