Mobile phone is usually the term used for "cell phone" outside of the USA

Puhelin is a generic term for any kind of phone.

      Kännykkä is a mobile/cell phone.

Here in eastern Finland there's no such thing as a non-mobile (or non-cell) phone. There is no landline network. So for us, most definitely, kännykkä = phone.
