"How many leaves are still on the tree" should be also accepted

Is the tree keeping some leaves in it's back pocket or something? Perhaps "how many leaves are still on the tree" is a more straightforward translation

Can someone please explain to me the difference between "montako" and "kuinka monta"? Thanks!
