"Calm" should also be accepted. Not only placid.
Still not accepted, 23Aug20. I have reported it (again?).
Seriously? Who speaking English says 'placid'? I'm not saying 'placid' is wrong, but I am saying that 'calm' would be a more correct word/answer to use. I have reported it...apparently...again.
'Calm' should be accepted
Agree that calm should be accepted, and unless you are on Lake Placid, around my parts of the US we hope for calm waters.
Calm should be accepted
I was marked wrong for using "calm" instead of "placid," even though "tynni" is translated as "calm" or "placid." Furthermore, at least in English, "placid" isn't used as commonly as "calm" in this context.
so, "calm" is wrong even though it's right? https://imgur.com/rhPyzmH
I wonder if there's any proper distinction between "I hope" and "I wish"? They sound like both should be accepted.
Placid or Calm? I know which one I'd pick ... but let's consult Professori Google:
“the water is calm” = About 1,110,000 results
“the water is placid” = About 222,000 results
