"An" is masculin, "année" is féminine. Année usually refers to a specific (calendar) year, e.g. "cette année". An to a period lasting a year.
I'm 30 years old = J'ai 30 ans. And in this case, the number of visitors is for any period lasting a year, so "an" is the proper translation.
For the number of visitors in a specific year (for example last year), you'd use "l'année dernière".
