"We 'hit' the entire population?" I thought it was a nonsense sentence at first but now I want to make sure that it could still be translated like that.

Also, would "alcancar" be a better word for this? Thanks!

Certainly, "antingir" in this case has the sense of "alcançar". With a proper context, I wouldn't say any of the options is better, they're equivalent.

Since you normally don't hit people you would ignore that interpretation, but it is a possible interpretation

In English though, you can use "hit" in a figurative sense like this. "Did you talk to everyone in the neighborhood?" "Yeah, we hit every house."

"We hit the entire population" sounds a little more strange, but it can convey the same meaning as "We reach the entire population."

'whole' population should be accepted as well as 'entire'!

Can it be "let's reach..." as well?

Would it be different if I said "a populaçao toda"?
