Why is this not correct: We are sorry but the sausages are all gone?

I have the same problem, it doesn't sound nice in English but I find Duolingo should stick to literal sometimes weird sounding translations that are closer to the Finnish sentence to make people understand the structure easier than confusing them with far off maybe better sounding translations

"We are sorry" / "we apologize" should work too.

Instead of "apologies" it should be "sorry".
