I used “fixing” and was marked wrong/repairing. Yet this program uses “fixing” elsewhere in text. Double standards.

Not double standards, but a course that is still in beta. Please report any correct answers that aren't yet accepted by using the flag, so that the volunteer team can add them as a possibility. That's how the course is improved!

why is "the engineer fixes the veranda" wrong????

Kind of a lowly task for an engineer... there were no construction contractors available?

Why was "the engineer repairs the veranda" marked incorrect? Both are examples of the present tense. I am confused.

"the engineer fixes the veranda" should also be correct
