LynneSt and Pinkdoug I agree. Now it's only an app. They could have left it for iOS. Even on game center. What I would suggest is to make a user finish up complete tree before starting challenge. Kind of like leaving it as icing on the cake for the end. for god sakes it was even best iOS app woted by hundreds of thousand in 2013 or something. Again to repeat: I do not agree with them to delete it and get it completely out, it sucks and I am sure I am voicing hundreds of thousands of users opinion.

No one knows except the Duolingo team, and none of the members have touched on that yet. All I know is that they took the Dueling feature [from the iOS app] and fixed a few bugs without any explanation. And that many users, like you and me, are angry about it, so you're not alone.

And anyone who hasn't updated: Don't update!!!

The reason that it wasn't available for Android or the web, as far as I know, was because the iOS version utilized Apple's Game Center to facilitate matches, which is only available for iOS. As I understand it, Duo was trying to find the best way to offer something similar on Android and on the web. Each platform would, most likely have been a segregated community with duels only available between users on the same platform, with no possibility for a pair of friends to duel if they were on different platforms. I suspect, but have no way of knowing for sure since Duo is being very tight-lipped about it, that this is part of the reason that it was withdrawn from the iOS platform. Perhaps they're developing a cross-platform solution, and are close to testing it.

I should've mentioned that, Alphekka. I feel really bad for the Android users not being able to use the Dueling feature. That was really a great feature. When I got this account in July, it unfortunately didn't have Dueling... So I couldn't duel anymore. It was awesome and I really should've done more!

Also, I have no idea why Duo didn't put it on the much better Android app.

The regular Duolingo discussion on Android, you mean (we can access the sentence discussions by choosing the word bubble at the top right of the "You are correct/incorrect" tab ). And for Apple, same things you mentioned above. Except maybe your profile by accessing your account from someone you follow (and who follows you back)?

I really miss it - I enjoyed the interaction and having to think and type fast. I think i learned through this really well. If there was no human to challenge, the Duobot was fun too. I merrily did the upgrade as it only said it was fixing bugs, but bitterly regret it now.
