Il lui offre à boire et à manger.

shouldn't it be

il lui offre boire et manger.

"À boire" means "something to drink"...I think it might be a contraction of "quelque chose à boire." Same with "à manger."

I thought it was because of "offrir" J'offre `a boire. Other verbs demand "de" in situations where English uses "to ..."
