Why is it aige and not aig?

aig means at, it is the basic form of the preposition (eg. aig Seumas means at James, eg. tha rudeigin aig Seumas James has something).

If you want to say I have something you inflect the preposition by person to agam at me: tha rudeigin agam I have something.

The form meaning at-him is aige, so tha rudeigin aige means he has something.
