Does the verb "korjata" also serve for the idea of "to fix something up?" e.g. "They are fixing up an old house?"

Hmm, "kunnostaa" might be a better word to express "fixing up".

You might also use the words "remontoida" (renovate) or "entisöidä" (restore) depending on how you are fixing up the house (are you following your own design or trying to make the house look the same as it did a hundred years ago).
