The Finnish course is great
Happy to see that the Finnish course is so good. :)
There have been many disappointments on Duolingo, regarding lost features, bad language audio, not accepted answers and badly designed courses like (imo) Japanese.
The Finnish course is just good and a very nice experience, even though it is still in Beta. Thank you to the creators!
I agree. Can't speak for the Japanese course (yet) but with this one I haven't really had any major issues so far. I wish more courses had such funny and informative tips. Does anyone know whether is the time a course spends as beta based on the amount of users who try it out, the amount of feedback (discussions on forums, posts on individual sentences in lessons etc.) or solely on time?
I've reach a part of the lessons where I'm hitting the "my answer should have been accepted" button about 3 times a day(*), so it's far from perfect - but it's in beta, so it's okay :). No problem with the audio thought, and even if the course is still missing most of its tips, it looks fairly well designed.
(* The most common problems are the personal pronouns, sometimes a sentence like "Minä olen/Sinä olet..." will be accepted - but not "Olen/Olet...". And sometimes it's the opposite. )
The further down the tree you go, the worse it gets. I'm reporting half the cases where writing is required, but naturally listening-, multiple choice- and choose the words -exercises don't really have these issues.
I have to assume it's part due to the course being rushed out, and part due to Beta testers becoming scarcer in the latter parts of the course.
They frequently say words are misspelled when they aren't and automatically replace correct words with incorrect so you have to be diligent to get them correct. I have seen instances where an answer is correct then wrong the next time. Not many though for a beta version! Good job otherwise!
