More Tips for Learners
Rosetta Stone will argue that the learning process is ruined if you use any of your first language in the process. While it does hinder you some, all you need to do is be actively immersing yourself during the lessons.
For example, if the sentence you are translating is "Der Hund ist schwarz," then actually picture a black dog in your mind, and motion to the dog while saying it. This really sticks the words in your mind instead of making them meaningless pairs of words that mean the same thing.
For more abstract concepts, like "eigentlich/actually," it is important to feel what it is like when you use the word "actually" and say "eigentlich" with the same feeling within. This helps you associate abstract terms with the feeling they give you and use them more easily.
