Finished my French tree in less than 2 weeks!!
I am all so happy I managed to do this. Duolingo has truly motivated me to become the polyglot I have always wished to be. And I believe that in a few years I will have achieved this glorious dream that was once not so easy to fulfill in the pre-internet, pre-Duolingo times.
The way it happened is still also surprising to me, since the placement test I took on my first day here has proved to be a major shortcut on my way towards this goal. The truth is that I have been studying some French in school (but alas, very superficially). And I managed to get through all of it, even though I may not have yet mastered the things Duolingo assumed I know. Luckily enough, I had the chance to 'strengthen' all these skills during the last few days. So it's mainly bonne chance, which I wish to you as well in return!
A still more exciting journey awaits me, since I am planning on working out on some french translations here on Duolingo in order to really consolidate the knowledge I have earned by climbing this mighty and awesome tree.
Now that this has been accomplished, I'll go on to finish my Dutch tree as well and most probably start to learn Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German afterwards. Probably even a bit of Russian too, when the website hatching is done. I personally wish that, for the future, Duolingo will also consider including some other Asian languages into its educational program, like Chinese, Hebrew or Arabic. But, for now, I'll be back to my dear Dutch!
Therefore, as a Dulingo friend of mine used to say, wish me a safe trip!
I'm around the place for about a week and I'm getting addicted with this Duolingo thing. Fortunately, I have already some previous knowledge on French and now I'm kind of remembering the basics and regaining some vocabulary since I'll be tested September for oral expression. I'd say that Duolingo could even help us achieve something around B1 in official tests without many other supporting tools, and considering your previous knowledge, I'm pretty sure you're a French Queen as said by the others! hahahaha
Keep it up and congrats!
ça explique tout XD Any way...thank you for your pretty words.I will do my best to learn english ;) My favorite language is Arabic,it's my mother tongue :)
Wow!! That sounds fascinating! As I said in the post as well, I really wish Duolingo will provide a course of Arabic as well in the near future. All the best! :D
Congratulations! I just started with French. Hope to achieve success such as yours. :)
Thank you! Good luck to you as well! It can seem tricky at first to go through all of it, but, after some hours of hard work, anything can be possible!
It's fun actually. But since i've just started the basics, it's a bit easy for now. But like you said, anything is possible. I might reply you in french next time around. :D
Wow! That's amazing. Did you get your level in French from the placement test or the practicing?
No way! U finished it in 2 weeks!!! I also wish that they would add chines... I'm learning it in school and I wanna see if it would have some different, then I could get in head.

Un peu tard pour la fête. Mais il vaut mieux tard que jamais. Toutes mes félicitations. )
So, did you do nothing but learn french for 2 weeks? :D
No, seriously, how did you do it?
Tell us oh wise one!
The test at the beginning already placed me quite high, so yes, I took some hours off every day to complete the task... it took some patience, but it was worth it! :D
Congratulations! I'm addicted to DuoLingo. If I'm away from it, I need to keep refreshing to get my badges gold again. I'm not sure what the Fluency percentage medallion means on the upper right side. I wonder why mine is not that high for French, Spanish, and German. I already finished my trees. Do you have that on your page?
Hello, Pickle1! Amazed at your language knowledge bar! Well, yes, even though I have finished the French tree already twice (after a long time not strengthening the skills, they go down as undone lessons), and regoldening it three times, Duolingo still considers I'm only 51% fluent in French, but that might also be because I never usually do translation tires... unfortunately. I plan to do it, though. Good luck with your learning, it looks more than promising!
Thank you for posting and the warning about refreshing my completed trees. I just discovered that the Flashcards also strengthen the lessons. You can target a particular lesson or the computer chooses for you. I like to try out DuoLingo's different languages. Esperanto is very interesting. good luck with your work. I wish I could find a place to practice what we've learned so far!
Not that impressive since you already had a decent level of fluency in French
That is such an inspirational post. Congats on your success so far! I've been studying Spanish on Duoling for quite some time now and I simply love learning languages and once I master Spanish, I defiantley want to go to French. Your story has given me a lot of hope and makes me even more motivated so thanks for sharing !
Thank you, I'm really happy my post motivated you!! I didn't realize it could move people so much, since every once in a while people are completing their own tree and posting about it over here. Spanish seems really cool and I look forward to learning it as well. Cheers!
I wish you a happy and safe trip. May I suggest a podcast I discovered? https://savoirs.rfi.fr/fr/apprendre-enseigner/langue-francaise/journal-en-francais-facile. Le Journal en français facile is pretty awesome. It has a transcript too. Greetings from Syria.
