Help! Duolingo's mistakenly lost my streak!

About an hour ago I was busy doing some translations and had a 68 (I think) day streak, I logged back in a few minutes ago and now I have a one day streak?! Can one of the staff please restore it? I don't mind losing it if I hadn't been keeping up my streak but I've had this streak since the first day I started here. Thanks.

According to your activity log, you didn't earn any points on 8/17. You did a large number of translations on the 16th and 18th, but nothing for the 17th. The last event you have on the 16th is a comment. Your timezone is set to Europe/London +0100 - if that isn't currently where you're located that might explain a discrepancy.

Thanks for checking that bchan but how does that explain that I was doing immersion on the 18th and still had my streak and then an hour later I lost my streak? The green tick on the streak was still showing on the 18th as I always check it. Was it mistakenly showing that?

It might have been an old page that hadn't been refreshed yet. Did you leave the page open for a long period of time?

Not generally as I shut down my laptop quite often, does Duo not automatically refresh after a certain period? Maybe it was a perfect storm of everything coming together to rob me of my streak! ;) I always check that my little green tick is showing and if not I immediately get some points, oh well, nevermind!

Actually, even when you switch pages, I've noticed the header often lags on updating. Clearly some of the page content is sent without updating the entire page. So you can't count on that checkbox itself to remind you.

Just wondering, but maybe the Duolingo page hadn't updated and you did some translations after midnight on that date, and then when you logged in again it updated and you had a 1 day streak. Of course, if you weren't up at midnight than this couldn't have happened.

Good thought, but I was doing the translations in the morning so it wasn't around midnight, I think I've been got by the Duo gremlins! In any case it doesn't sound like Duo is going to restore my streak unfortunately. These things happen sometimes with technology, I don't think I'm going to make the effort to keep my streak again though in case this happens again!

That's too bad about your streak. :( I love keeping streaks to see how many days I can stay in a row before I forget. Good luck with your languages!

I think DL keeps 2 Streaks values, an overall streak and a streak for each language you are learning. Make sure that you are seeing the overall streak value as this is the important one.

Thanks psionpete, its definitely my overall streak unfortunately. I've now emailed support on Usagi's advice so hopefully they might be able to resolve it.
