"carta" versus "menú"

In Spanish the word for menu is "la carta" (same as for the letter). In a restaurant one says "la carta por favor" when asking for the menu. "El menú" refers to the set meal(s) of the day, which are often advertised outside the cafe/ restaurant as "menú del día". A minor but important point for travellers to Spain.
