One Year, One Tree
Today, I finished my French tree and celebrated my one-year anniversary and streak! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped along the way, especially my incredible friends on the FR-EN team! And thanks to all of you amazing users that make Duo such a great place to learn.
To everyone who's just starting, let me say that you can get a lot out of the course if you're willing to put a lot into it. Don't get discouraged! When I started a year ago, the only French I knew was Monsieur Incroyable! and je suis le grand fromage ("I am the big cheese"). And now, I know how to say things that don't sound like complete nonsense. C'est un miracle!
Merci à tous pour cette belle expérience!
Congrats, that's a great accomplishment! And I love the graduate Duo with his golden trophy, it's the perfect image for the occasion. :-)
I agree. The next stage should be a red wine sipping Duo sat outside a Parisian café reading Sartre.
My own congratulations to a very gifted learner and great colleague!
Mes félicitations à un apprenant très doué et un collègue génial !
Heh, I hope I will say the same in the next year. Just started French course week ago and everything seems difficult.
Just keep up with it! The grammar is difficult, but it's very rewarding once you get it.
Congratulations, DXLi! And thanks for all your input in the discussions. I too finished my French tree today. But I feel I still have some way to go in mastering this language. So I've started the reverse tree and also French from German.
Félicitations! Let me know what you think of the reverse tree. One thing that I found really helpful is to try to talk to people in the FR>EN forums.
The reverse tree is when you swap the languages around. For instance if you are learning French from English the reverse tree would be to learn English from French. There's obviously quite a bit of redundancy and it only works with the microphone turned off.
After 213 days in a row, I just finished my French Tree. I still have quite a ways to go in Spanish though. Fun. Thanks Duolingo. I definitely feel stronger in French.
Great news! A good way to proceed from there is to try to watch some French shows. Some stations produce special series where the actors speak more slowly. Try looking those up.
Well done. I like the way you have achieved them together. Quite the unique accomplishment.
Félicitations ! I hope to finish my tree as well someday - I've just passed the last checkpoint!
And congrats on your 365 day streak!
I just watched "The Incredibles" yesterday. Bomb Voyage, anyone? Not to mention congratulations on such an amazing streak!
wow congrats! I sometimes get irritatet when I cannot remember how to Write something or when i always forget to remember what jusqu´á means!
Thanks =) When I first started, it was pretty tough. I used Anki for a while, but rote memorization didn't work that well for me, so I just did a bunch of practice on Duo. Once you figure out the patterns, it gets much easier.
Congrats - so nice to hear the progress that you have made over the past year!
Thanks! I might work on my Chinese, but German, Italian, and Dutch are pretty tempting...
Great job! You have just finished the tree but you have the level 23 - what a huge amount of work you've done in this year! You were really working hard and deserve all the honor! :)) Congratulations!
