Be careful with "chatte"!

The word for a female cat can also mean, well, ❤❤❤❤❤. It can be used totally innocently but could also come out very wrong for non-native speakers. I think it's more or less on the level of "b*tch" in English--vets and breeders use it, but most people don't in polite conversation. I don't think it's ever an insult, though--just refers to anatomy.

Native French speakers, feel free to give your input.

From Québec: Yeah, it can means ❤❤❤❤❤. You can still use it without shame if it's clear that you're talking about a cat. There is no problem to use it in polite conversation.
