I tried "o" instead of "oppure" because I have read several times in the comments that they are interchangeable. Apparently, if the word "rather" is used, "oppure" is required.

Yeah 'o' is just plain 'or' without any further meaning, while 'oppure' highlights a stronger contrast between the two options.
