How many dots can you see? What makes this 'do you see?'

English is a "do" insertion language so it is inserted as a helping verb to make good English. Spanish does not need it. Also ¿Cuántos puntos puedes ver? = How many dots can you see? so Spanish has a clear way to phrase it that way.

Thanks Rocko2012. The puedes makes sense.

yeah, in questions the "do" is implied, poder should elicit the word "can", which is not usually implied, its usually explicit

i wrote, "cuantos puntos ves." even now it underlines ves in red. so i changed it, wrong.

The acceptable responses were provided with second option in parenthesis and it is considered wrong. There should be some acceptability when both are covered in one answer. No?
