I don't understand why my sentence is incorrect... Can you help me?

-"One time I have seen the famous actress"

I just answered I have seen the famous actress once which was not accepted (26sep13) while the "correct" answer was I once have seen the famous actress which of course is not English. Your answer is fine, Duo is a program and imperfect. You are invited to report errors. Recently (see date) I have found that the rate of correcting reported errors seems to have fallen away. Not sure if others experience this.

Your word order is awkward, but "I have seen the famous actress once" should be accepted.

I've been taught in my English class that "one time" and "two times" are wrong. You should use "once" and "twice" instead.

You should ask for a refund. :-) We say "one time" and "two times" quite often.

J. Franchomme's error was putting it at the start of the sentence. If he/she had written "I have seen the famous actress one time" then it would have been okay. Generally it is true that saying "one time" instead of "once" adds some force to the statement. "I was just one time" sounds quite serious whereas "it was only once" sounds rather off-handed.

Ok, thanks for the clarification! I think it's too late for a refund, haha. Greetings.

There's something wrong with "One time I have seen", it's either "One time I saw" or "I have seen.....once".

"Once I saw the famous actress " seems kinda wrong to me. It's like a sentence that should be continued, like "once I saw the famous actress, I left" and in this sense it doesn't match the italian (it would be "Una volta che ebbi visto" o "dopo aver visto")
