What's the difference between "beroep" and "baan"? Is it like "job" and "career"?

Roep = call, so beroep is like a calling = career/profession. A baan is just a job.

Only just dawned on me that "beroep" could be translated as: "calling". Came here to post that very observation, and saw that I am slow. ;)

Would "Wat heeft hij als beroep?" be correct here also?

Loving the dutch course thus far.

No, one's career is different from one's current occupation.

Is this a joke or just a quirk of a random generator? One of the answer choices was, "Wat is zijn willem-alexander?"
