Isn't sandwiches spelled sandwicheRne?

I get the impression from http://sproget.dk/lookup?SearchableText=sandwich , which shows "-e(r)ne", that it should be acceptable with or without the ''r''? Or does the fact that the ''r'' is in parens signify something else?

So I guess "En dreng" would be indefinite vs "drengen" is the definite?
