"Have you brought food from the restaurant TO me?" should be an acceptable, literal, translation, no? Duo says it should be "FOR me"
even in the suggested answer I could see "Have you brought TO me food from the restaurant?" as correct. but my English might be breaking since I'm living in Europe for so long :-)
You would say "...zu mir gebracht" then in German. "...mir gebracht" implies, that the food is for me, as in the English "brought me food" or "brought food for me"
No, you would use "mitbringen"/mitgebracht". "Hast Du (mir) Essen aus dem Restaurant mitgebracht" would be the most common and correct version.
In this case no. I would use the german word "gebracht" for e.g. delivering food and "mitgebracht" for e.g. family members and/or friends (local slang). Meridian --> german native speaker
Upvote if you spent 5 minutes trying to understand why the English translation is not "Have you needed me food from the restaurant?", which makes no sense, before realizing there is no 'u' in 'gebracht'
