it does not accept "those are my boots" is there a reason why this is not acceptable or is duolingo wrong on this occassion?

I think that would be "Esas son mis botas", "Son" only includes the They - same as Soy includes the "I" in "I am"... if that makes any sense :)

But you are not saying "They are my boots", "He is my computer". Translation "Those/these are my boot" should be counted as good one.

butterbrot is right if the sentence wanted to say those are my boots the word would be esas. The sentence did not say 'esas' so it has to be translated as 'they'.

We know thats the literal translation but it's not what you usually say in english. Can you just understad it?

agree. I put, "These are my boots." and it was counted as wrong.
