Even if it was for Spanish homework would the community help that person?

If that person made an effort first and posted their effort then yes, the community would probably help the person, as long as it wasn't something ridiculously huge and time consuming.

But if a person just posts some questions without trying to answer the questions themselves, or if the person posts some text and says "please translate" without posting their own effort, they might get help but probably not. I won't help people who do that. I'm here to facilitate language learning, not cheating.

Agreed on all points. Nice post.

Definitely don't mind helping people with homework questions, as long as they're not just copy/pasting their homework and are actually trying to learn. After all, that's what we're all here for, right? :)

It seems to be frowned upon in general and I agree on that point. The most frequent response I've observed is that people are asked to check out Lang-8 where the website is set up specifically for users to help edit each other's work.

As the discussion boards here have limited space, I would discourage people from turning Duolingo into a homework checking website. Please take it to Lang-8.com Thanks! ^_^
