Thanks! I originally started on Dutch, but I didn't like it so I've switched to Danish. What about you?

You can see the array of languages I'm studying next to my name :)

Although I've mostly focused on German here, I'm doing quite a lot.

As long as you have a strong grasp on one language before you move on to another, it's not that confusing. With similar languages, confusion is more common. With totally different languages, like Mandarin and German, I hardly ever mix them up.

Whenever I try to learn more than one language, my brain goes zonk. I'm learning Latin as a second language and I've tried to learn Swedish, but I just got everything mixed up. I just can't do it. I find Danish is pretty similar to Swedish though.

Dutch might be a difficult language to learn. At least it is our reputation. ;-) I do think that there are many similarities between the German and the Dutch language. Yet I've been told that it is harder for a German to learn Dutch than for a Dutchman to learn German. I am not so sure about that though. There are some similarities to English and French too. I think the major difficulties when learning Dutch are word order and pronunciation (especially the hard 'g' and combinations like 'sch..' 'spr..' and 'ui'). Overall, I think learning Dutch is not more difficult than learning French or German.

Hello Sandie!!!Welcome on duolingo!!!Do you like the website?

Thanks! I love it! All the other websites I've tried to learn other languages on are extremely complicated. Mom just randomly found this website and showed it to me and now I think my life is changed. (P.S. my name isn't Sandie, It's actually Sadie :) )
