"Deze kroket is zo heet als de oppervlakte van de zon."

Translation:This croquette is as hot as the surface of the sun.

Notorious food for getting your tongue burnt. Unless you cut them open, the inside takes forever to cool down.

I'd imagine anything at 5500C would burn you fairly easily. I personally don't prefer mine any hotter than the surface of Venus.

Wise to dip in mustard first :-)

Irrelevant perhaps, but the sun has no surface.

Good point. That said, I find the whole reference to the sun's temperature rather irrelevant. Certainly not a common Dutch comparison/expression.

Although I guess people will understand what somebody tries to say when comparing to the "sun's surface" tempature...

Hahaha it's sentences like these why I'm looking at the Dutch course as a native speaker xD

I would beg to differ on the sun not having a surface BTW, but that may depend on how you define 'surface'.

Been there. Croquettes are essentially made of lava.

Could "This croquette is hot like the surface of the sun" be a proper translation?

September 6, 2016

No, because that doesn't tell you that both have the same temperature.
