The French word for umbrella is literally Greek + French words for "beside (against) rain;" cf. parasol, "against sun." Germanic languages seem to like to gank this word.

Before I started learning Danish, I saw a video of Michael Learns To Rock playing a Danish song in their acoustic tour in Denmark. That song was called Lykkelige Nu and was never released. Watching that video the only words I recognised were ''under paraplyen'' since paraplyen sounds similar to Dutch paraplu XD. Now that song is just playing in my head when I see this sentence XD
