Hola! How many of us here are Asians? How is duolingo working for you so far?

From the Philippines here. I am just a bored man who wanted to know a language from the west. For some reason Spanish is very difficult compared to Japanese. I put some work everyday and hopefully it pays out.

Would be nice to have a lover from south america. A lot of them are nice and seem to be warm and caring. :)

It's interesting that you say Spanish is more difficult than Japanese. Most Europeans would say just the opposite. If, like me, someone speaks Engish and already knows French and Italian, Spanish seems very easy. Whereas, when I have looked at Japanese I have found it very strange think that I would have a lot of difficulties trying to learn it.

Maybe because I am Asian. I dunno. I can't really handle how words have their own gender. And I seem to find having character symbols as awesome even though my knowledge is not as good as a native.

The term gender originally had nothing to do with sex. It would be better replaced with noun class which was its original meaning. This would help when studying languages such as Swahili. It has nine noun clases. So sex does not come into it.

Hola kamusta? Soy de Philippines tambien :)

Really? Most people say that Japanese is harder. Spanish is easier for me since most of the words there are also spoken in Tagalog.

The Spanish screwed some of the words meaning purposely so Filipinos will not understand. Tagalog is different. If you know Cebuano, the dialect is much closer to Spanish.
